There are reports that Premier League heavyweights Manchester United could lose their defensive warrior Ander Herrera to Spanish giants Barcelona this summer. The Spaniard has just over a year in his contract at Old Trafford and Nou Camp are eager to sign him on to help the defensive buildup of the club.
Barcelona are looking at spending £22 million on the player, who has been relegated to the background with the arrival of Nemanja Matic who has been impressive for the Red Devils. With the little time on his deal with the Red Devils, Barcaare confident they can finish up the deal. The player is also 28 years old but he could play for the next few seasons as a support for Sergio Busquets.
Coach Ernesto Valverde is keen on working with his mentee again following their previous time at Athletic Bilbao. It remains unknown if Jose Mourinho would be open to the idea especially as Marouane Fellaini’s case has not been resolved. The Portuguese has also called on Herrera on certain big matches this term and he has delivered decently.
Elsewhere in England, Liverpool are looking to take a Juventus star to replace one they would likely lose to the Serie A side. As Emre Can looks to leave Anfield on a free transfer deal this summer, Jurgen Klopp and his team are considering signing Sami Khedira, according to reports. The German’s deal expires in 2019 and with the young blood that Juve is signing his chances could be limited soon. The 31-year old is also growing old by the day so a three to four year deal should help him decide to move to England. Liverpool will get Naby Keita who could play behind the trident attackers so Khedira, if he joins, would join Jordan Henderson in the middle, doing box to box jobs.
