Out of all the opening matches of the Premier League there is little doubt that the most surprising result was Manchester United’s defeat against Swansea City. The pre-season schedule of Louis van Gaal saw the Dutch coach going undefeated with impressive results but when the Premier League kicked off, the squad suffered trying to replicate similar performances.
The squad of guided by Garry Monk could only launch 5 shots throughout the entire match but it was still enough for Swansea City to claim the victory. When the game reached its end, Monk went on praising the work and team effort that his players demonstrated.
Swansea City’s manager, Garry Monk said: “The whole key to it all was us coming together as a group and working together. I made it clear to the players this week to go up here and show exactly what we’re about. We had a game plan to try and work to and to a man they were very, very good. We could have improved in a lot of areas but to come to Old Trafford in the first game of the season with everything going on… it was very good to get that level out of the boys already’’
Even with the surprising triumph from Swansea City over Manchester United, Monk still has plans of signing a few more players before the transfer window ends. According to the 35 years old manager of Swansea City, his squad can be much better than how it currently is and bringing in new players to the team will reinforce help reinforce it further.
Napoli’s Federico Fernandez is one of the summer targets of Garry Monk and a deal is already believed to be on the verge of completion with the Argentine defender only having to complete a series of medical tests before the transfer can be announced and confirmed to the public.
